Dee Why Bowling Club Centenary
Dee Why Bowling Club celebrated its centenary on Sunday 6 September 2026.
On Monday 6 September 1926, after a meeting in the Dee Why Cinema Hall, a vote was taken and overwhelming support was given for the formation of the Dee Why Bowling and Recreation Club.
Originally located in Lismore Avenue, Dee Why, the club re-located to the present site in December 1972.
After a celebratory dinner on Saturday 6 Sept 2026, members and guests from around the Region took to the greens for a game of bowls followed by the cutting of the magnificent Swan cake. The celebrations continued for the centenary and Father’s Day. Some members even dressed in the bowling gear of days gone by.
A wonderful 100 page centenary book, which was compiled by David Hooley, was distributed to all members detailing the 100 years of history. Well worth a trip down memory lane.
Congratulations to the Dee Why Bowling and recreation Club and best wishes for the next 100 years!!!
